Thanks for visiting our website and reading about this special part of the world. Back in June 2014 my wife and i came to Mansfield to go to one of the four large farmers markets held every year and were just browsing through the Estate agents when this property caught our eyes. Upon inspection we realised that it was a magnificent property but needed a lot of work to bring it back to its best.

To cut a long story short we purchased the property and settled in December 2014 from the producer of the iconic movie ” The Man from Snowy River”

After a plenty of “blood sweat and tears” the place started taking shape ( although there’s still so much more to achieve ) and we decided that we would love to share this gorgeous property  and open it up for all year round holiday accommodation.

Black Horse Park is an historic property first settled in the 1850s by George and Arthur Desmond and located on 20 acres of gently undulating pasture in the prestigious Boorolite Valley of the Victorian High Country. Enriched with age old European Oaks, Elms, Poplars, Liquidambar and Pin Oaks, the property is also close to Mansfield State Forest.

The property was established in the 1850’s and the Black Horse Park Homestead is currently undergoing extensive renovations to restore its rich and fascinating history and is also available for holiday accommodation.

*We also have the recently renovated Pin Oak Chapel moved to Black Horse Park in the 1940s and used for stabling the horses and the Original 1850’s Pioneers Hut which was the Homesteads main kitchen and The Elm Cabin  available for accommodation*
Black Horse Park is ideally, centrally located and only 15 minutes to Mansfield township, 20 mins to Mt Buller, 10 mins to Goughs Bay,  15 mins to Macs Cove, Howqua Inlet, Jamieson and Kevington just a little further on.

While in the high country why not pack a picnic lunch and take a leisurely drive to the King Valley wine region, stopping at Powers Lookout along the way, it’s simply breathtaking. When you arrive at Whitfield (approx. 45 mins.) you’re biggest decision will be which winery to go to, there’s about ten in the area…… Oh just try them all!

Black Horse Park is an all year round holiday location. The area caters for: Snow skiing / snowboarding at Mt Buller, fishing / swimming at the Delatite River (just 2mins away) or Lake Eildon, horse riding in Mansfield State Forest / Victorian High Country, mountain biking / cycling at the rail trail and Mt Buller (* We have bikes and helmets available for hire ) four wheel driving and exploring, golf at Mansfield Golf Club or just enjoy a gourmet platter and a glass of fine local wine at one of the local wineries.

Lake Eildon is only 10 minutes away so why not bring your boat, we have heaps of room to park it safely.

Goughs Bay has three great concrete ramps so you can always access the lake no matter what the water level is.
Besides all the usual water sport activities you should try the bars / restaurants on the waters edge, just pull up, tie up and enjoy.

These are just a few of the wonderful activities on offer. If you would like to bring you’re horse and ride the vast expanses of the Victorian High Country, it’s on our doorstep, with endless tracks to ride you’ll be amazed at the breathtaking scenery and awesome riding trails.

We have excellent horse friendly paddocks and four post and rail yards with water and washing facilities and plenty of room to park the float.

You don’t even have to bring your own hay as we have plenty of good quality grass hay here you can buy at a very reasonable price.
Your horse can stay for $10 per night or if you are unable to bring one don’t worry we can arrange local horses and guides for you.

During your stay at Black Horse Park, feel free to wander the property, fish for Red Fin, Rainbow trout and Yabbies or even have a swim in our large clean dam, sip on a glass of you’re favourite wine, read a book or just have an afternoon nap.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Best Regards
Rob and Helen Hart
